I'm packing and soon will leave to spend a long weekend with my granddaughter. While many children have fond memories of baking cookies with Grandma, my grandchild will probably remember catching bugs and learning about, caring for, and respecting critters, LOL.
I found the most adorable book to bring with me ... it's never too early to spread the word on the importance of adoption rather than buying from a pet store or a puppy mill.
Emily has two pets. Both came from shelters and are so gentle with, and loving toward the baby; even so, we always play it safe and any interaction is always closely supervised. The biggest surprise is their ten year old, male cat, Toby. Toby claimed the baby as his own from day one, and rarely lets her out of his sight. The baby LOVES her pets and has been taught to be kind and gentle with them.
