Just heard that Ray Bradbury died. The author of such wonderful sci-fi as "Fahrenheit 451" and "The Martian Chronicles", he certainly gave me much to enjoy and think about when I was a teen. And frankly now - as costs are closing libraries and malls have 10 sneaker stores for every one bookstore - some of his writing is looking almost prophetic!

RIP Mr. Bradbury. I loved his writing. Especially his short stories.

There was a time in high school that I only read science fiction - I really thought there would be people living on the moon by now. My favorite was The Illustrated Man which is really a collection of short stories and "The Veldt" was my favorite of those. I came across this tribute; it shows what a great sense of humor he had : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=EBtZjbTDTDk#!

This makes me a little sad to hear. He is one of my favorite authors. I just re-read Farenheit 451 a month ago. Used to love Ray Bradbury Theatre too.

Me too Esther! There was a time I only read science fiction and Ray Bradbury was a favourite. I managed to find my favourite short story by him on line. I couldn't remember the title. Its Kaleidoscope and here's a link to it ..you just have to scroll down a bit to see it. What a great piece...kind of dark.
