I recently moved to San Diego for work and am provided housing by my employer who wishes to make arrangements for me at a place that isn't pet friendly.
I am new to the area and not sure where to turn.....he is currently well taken care of so I'm not sure that I need a "rescue" but I can't afford to pay for housing out of pocket and keep him. I would prefer to keep him as long as I can (late summer, early August) as I am very attached and am having a hard time relinquishing control to someone else to care for him. I will also like to arrange a visit with you and Marley as well as your home/arrangements for him. He is also particular about small children so I would insist if you have kids under the age of 8 that they meet and interact as well. I hope that doesn't seem invasive but he has been a very loyal and loving dog to me (and will be to you as well) and deserves the best of circumstances.

He will be 4 years old in October, up-to-date on shots, neutered, inside dog, loves to cuddle and lick you, potty trained, gives hi-fives, needs hair to be kept short and groomed every four weeks because he is hot natured and scratches alot when his hair grows long, he's a little chubby/spoiled :) and gets along well with other dogs......my mom has a weiner dog, 3 golden retrievers and a boxer that are his best friends (she is maxed out or she would be glad to take him).

The best new home would be one would give him room to play (he loves catching tennis balls) and with someone who can spend time with him. He would be OK during the day while you are at work, as long as you can spend quality time with him after and take him out at least twice in the evening and once in the morning. He also loves car rides and does well in the car (he rode with me from Kentucky to California with absolutely no problems). I would also be willing to maintain insurance on him (he has had regular checkups since he was born) if it is a financial burden for you.

Thank you so much for your interest in Marley, hoping I can find him a good home before I lose my mind! :) I am having trouble uploading the pics but you if respond with interest I will send you some or in a private message if necessary.

It sounds like you love Marley very much. Have you told your new boss that you need living arrangements where you can have YOUR dog. Do you have to live where he says? I don't understand how he can cause you go lose your loved pet, but then I don't know your job or situation either. I hope it can work out for you and Marley to be happy

I am a project manager for a construction company that builds apartment complexes. We are building one in San Diego where my employer pays a housing stipend for me until the project is complete and then I move onto the project, the stipend is taken away. So, in a way, I have brought the decision on myself because we had to collectively decide against making this property pet friendly due to certain circumstances. In theory, I could choose not to move there but I can't really afford to pay for separate housing and it wouldn't be fair to him to try and hide him there. So, here we are.

May be a stupid question but if the boss is paying for your housing would he be willing to give you the cost of your housing and then you only need add a little more to it to make up the difference?

If you are a valuable employee maybe he can make an exception for you knowing you have a dog. I think that is a lot of an employer to ask of you. Maybe you can find a program in your area who also takes on dogs temporarily for military who are overseas who will keep him for a determined amount of time for you.

I have to be honest, if I was given a choice I would choose my dogs over a job change. They are my family, my children, and I would not give them up. I would find a way to keep them. Once a dog comes into my home, they are there for life.

Jobs are so hard to come by; I feel very bad for Lindsey having to make such a difficult decision, but sometimes those choices have to be made; I just hope I never have to make that choice. Good luck Lindsey and I hope you find a solution. :sm

Hi Lindsey: I'm sorry you're in such a bad spot. Here's a re-sizing tool to help you upload pictures:

I wish you the best in finding a new home for Marley. He sounds like a lovely dog.
