I need to know a website where I can purchase DURABLE (cant stress that enough) pet identification tag for Lucy. She has only had hers for 5 months and I can barely read her name and phone number engraved on it. I am not looking for anything fancy anymore as it obviously does no good when it comes to losing a pet. Her pet tag currently is pink and its just wearing so fast and the engraved part like I said is hardly legible. So if anyone knows a website that sells durable/high quality tags can you please let me know! Thanks in advance!

Here are a couple of my favorites:

http://www.dogtagart.com/ - You can actualy upload any picture you want and customize your dog tag the way you like. I've ordered 3 from them for Charlie about 2 years ago and they are still the same as the day we received them.

http://www.reddingo.com/ - This is also a very good place to get tags from.

http://www.blanketid.com/ - We also have one from Blanket ID for Charlie.

I had the same issue with tags until I got my tags from dogtagart.com (also recommended by Vicki) :th-up I like the option that you can personalize. They also have lots (thousands) of available tags. You can see Sky's in his avatar. Put the plastic around the edges and the tag will last. Good luck and post a pic of the snazzy tag you purchase :sun

I also strongly recommend the Rubit clips. They make it very easy to switch dog tags from one collar to another, if Lucy has more than one collar. I ordered a bunch for Charlie. They saved my finger and nails a lot of trouble.

Rubits are wonderful. My girls tags are needing replaced you can barely read them.

I use the following website and Karlie's tags are 6 years old, have been thru the washer numerous times and are still easily read.

I buy the rubber silencers at PetSmart for $.99 each and put in the middle tag. They keep the tags like new and go through washing just fine.

My favorite is the Dog-E-Tag which allows 40 lines of data display that scrolls. It is back lighted and waterproof. Yopu can detail Name, address, diet, e-mail, phone etc. all on one small electronic tag.

http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Dog-Ta ... B000F0DURU

VERY durable. The one I had for my Augustus is 7 years old and still works... Augustus however has passed away... sigh.

This company allows you to put info on both sides and are not too expensive.

We use these stainless steel tags. I can check the wear if I could catch a dog right now. :gig OK, just caught Chloie. Her tag is still clear even though some of it is small print.

Since we go RV'ing and are sometimes in remote campgrounds, I like to put the info for our RV on the dog tag. I put our RV California license plate number and our cell phone numbers on one side and the standard home info on the other side. There also is room to put that it is a RV license plate number, so if anyone in the campground should find one of our dogs, we can be found in that way.

I'm checking out the reddingo tags, but am not finding a way to order them or the price? Is it just me not looking in the right area?

I really like these tags that I got from Hot Dog Collars:
http://www.hotdogcollars.com/1349-Steel ... antee.aspx

Mine are like 3 years old and they look very new.

I also bought one Red Dingo just for Louie for comparison. While everything is still readable, the Red Dingo is a lot more scratched up. I think that one is a bout 1.5 year old.

I'm so happy I seen this thread! I've been looking around for a good place to order a tag for the puppy (Koka and Luna both need new tags as well).

I'm excited to shop around when I get home from work!

Deb, you win! I love how they all match and the key chain idea is awesome. Now I have to oder more. Wish I would've known earlier, dogtagart.com had a sale but it ended Oct 31st.

Try this promo code, it usually gives you 10% off DTAFRIENDS

On the back side of my key ring I have my girls' names

I have tags on the collars but I also have collars that are embroidered with pet's name and my cell phone #. I order from this lady on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Embroidered-Per ... 563a0b988f

I recommend the $12.95 ones, the $9.95 ones are not as sturdy. Callie has a pretty pink with black letters(she is black so it looks very nice), and the boys have blue collars with white letters. I have ordered maybe 5 from her, and been very happy. The collars are very sturdy, I have never had one break off. BTW, Bart was her cocker spaniel that she lost several years ago, so she knows about cocker neck sizes. They are not as nice as Erika's collars, but do provide me with piece of mind if a dog gets lost it is very easy for someone to get in touch with me as the phone number is quite obvious.

Do these come out as vibrant as they look? They are beautiful tags.

They are very vibrant colors just like online. There are over 35 pages of custom tags already made you can browse through to get some ideas. Russ at dogtagart is fabulous he has helped me customize all the tags for the girls. The first tag I ordered was the small one but the small is really small. Here are some pics of the actual tag, the second picture is of their microchip and a smaller fun tag I got but it shows the size difference between the small and the large tag, on the back side of the microchip tag is their id #, the plastic ring around the outside of the tag is the silencer and it can be removed.

My local Petsmart had a machine that engrave them. I just went to Petsmart and bought a tag (link below) and they had the machine. It appears from the link you can fill out the information and they'll do it for you. Henry is 9 years old and has had the same one since he was 4-5 months old, and its still pretty legible. Its about time for a new one I think. Rudy just turned 3 years old and he's had his since he was 8 weeks, and its still perfect.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... lInUS%2FNo

Rudy and Henry both have the blue bone.

I was checking out some dog sites and found this tag product. Is a barcode for smart phones. Personally i will preferred to have the information right at hand. If someone finds a dog with one of this tags but does not have a smart device then will be more of a trouble but if they do have one it goes directly to all the places in the information including this website.

I have to agree...or even if they do have a smart phone and not in hand at that moment! Then the dog has to sit there while you get that bar code in focus...This whole idea is kind of silly IMO. Just type it out already, so it can be read!!! I had to download the app for reading bar codes on my Iphone...not everyone is going to do that because it really is a worthless app IMO
