My Jolie is going to whelp her litter any day now...my vet is a firm believer of giving a calcium tablet once a day beginning someplace between day 59-62...She is 61 days now and I have heard so many don't believe in the calcium supplement. Last time I remember I started them the day she had the pups but not before,.,,however my vet said to start them now,,,what do you all think?

We don't supplement, just feed them a premium puppy food and toward the end give them chicken, hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese. After they whelp we feed them the chicken, eggs and cottage cheese along with their puppy food to make sure they eat well, and after they are finished nursing gradually switch them back to the original food.

I've heard that nowadays most people believe extra calcium can cause eclampsia rather than helping it, I would just make sure she is on a good quality puppy food tbh.

Yes, Jolie is having "pup" confirmed today by x ray...they saw only one on the sonogram a few weeks ago...today she had her recheck...heartbeat is good...and only one pup seen in the x ray. Looks like good position according to the vet and at the moment..pup has plenty of room to be delivered naturally. I have a big window of time unfortunately so it is hard to predict when the pup will be born,...I bred her to Bosco from Aug 9-17...Bosco is Oreo's full brother...
Not sure but Oct 15 would have been Oreo's birthday....maybe the pup will come then or pretty close to it!

Best wishes for Jolie and the "solo" pup (someone here MADE me type that :lol2). Whether today or tomorrow, the pup will have a birthday close to his/her amazing Uncle Oreo.

All the best,

Colleen, :cool Solo, and Rosey
