Our bluebirds returned on St Patricks Day. Amazingly enough the same female that was here last year and the year before returned again. They don't overwinter here and this is the only female that I know has returned. I can tell it is her because she is a different shade of blue than you normally see on female bluebirds. Plus you need to train bluebirds to come to mealworm feeders and she knew right away what it was when I put it out. The male had to figure it out though by watching her. She has started building a nest in one of the backyard nestboxes, weather has been warm until yesterday. Today it was a chilly 28 out, only supposed to get to 48 today.
