I know we were talking about 2013 in Reno - but what about 2011? Who all is going? I'm going to TRY to make it. We normally go to the beach July 25th. But, we might not this year.I'm talking to my dad about it....just wanted to see who all was going. I know Juanita has a lot of details so hopefully she can jump in here....or someone else who has more info! What days are you guys going? What dogs are you bringing? Whats the address of where its held? I see the Hotel address - but sorry I'm not experienced with this - but where is it exactly?? :dk

From where I am, the hotel is 11.5 hours away. :OMY

We are planning on going. Solo will be in agility and obedience. Rosey will be in agility and if Beginning Novice class is added to the obedience schedule, she will be in that.

We are driving so there should be plenty of things for Solo the Roving Canine Reporter to write about.

We are definitely planning on going this year. The debate right now is whether or not to take and show any dogs. Hmmm...

We are planning on being there the 20th - 24th. I am not sure where we are staying...might be at a hotel and might stay at my brothers house - which is only 35 minutes away. I can't wait!!!

Is there any chance the Cindy, Oliver and Annie may make an appearance?

I really want to go and am trying to work it out.

I also really want to enter Onyx in the puppy class. But, we have to find some conformation training, decide who will handle her, etc.

I'm finally joining in on this conversation and will add some details.

I will be attending the Nationals in Sturbridge this coming July, barring any personal emergencies or health issues.

There are also members from other forums who will be attending as well as members from our Zim forum.

Sturbridge, MA. is about an hour and a half drive from the Hartford Bradley International airport via the Massachusetts turnpike and very easy to drive as well as quite beautiful.

Some of us have been discussing staying at the Super 8 motel which is located adjacent to the Host Hotel. The Host Hotel has yet to announce an ASC reduced rate and the rooms can be quite expensive. The Super 8 is within walking distance from the venue. Sturbridge is quite small and the Host Hotel is within walking distance from restaurants and many other stores.

The reason that I know this is that Sturbridge hosted the Nationals in 2006. Cindy WAS there and I had the opportunity to meet her. Hope she can meet us there again this year, too.

I am usually the organizer of the group going to the Nationals and keep contact information for all who intend on going. I also keep everyone updated on arrival and departure times for each person in case someone can share a ride from/to the airport.

I will be requesting Jim to put a separate section here on the forum so that we can all have current information in one place for reference.

I will also be asking each of you who are planning on attending to send your e-mail address to me so that I can start a list and keep all informed.

Most of us don't bring our dog with us except for those who are participating in the show itself, i.e. agility, obedience or conformation. The agility and obedience classes were held outside on a beautiful lawn last time and were really enjoyable. Conformation classes were held inside the hotel in a large conference room.

If you have any questions that I can answer, just PM me or ask here. I will do my best to answer your question or find out the answer.

FYI--I made my reservations at the Host Hotel last July because I wanted to make sure I got one of the pet rooms, on the first floor, of the part of the hotel that is (supposedly) right next to the agility rings. (I'll believe that when I get there and see the rings outside my room :wink

.) The rate is $119.00. If you want a refrig and/microwave, that is an extra charge.
Frankly, if I wasn't competing and really want to be able to use my hotel room as my agility set-up space i would be across the street at the Super 8.

I plan to go when it comes closer to the west in 2012 and 2013 (in Reno, NV)

I don't know yet. It will depend on my school schedule. I am hoping to be very busy starting July 1st but it might not happen in which case I get to go to Cocker Nationals again :)

If I do go I will definitely be doing agility Thursday and Friday and I haven't decided if I will do rally over the weekend or go a nearby agility trial.

My husband has a conference in Newport, RI the week BEFORE the nationals. When we decided to go there, I quicked looked up the ASC dates and was bummed that I missed it by just a few days. To far for us to bring the dogs, but I am already planning on 2012.

I will keep you in the loop about hotel reservations and travel plans. I haven't as yet made reservations for either.

I'm hoping to co-ordinate with Sheila for a ride from the airport in Hartford to Sturbridge. Last time, a friend and I rented a car in Hartford and drove to Sturbridge, maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I'm thinking that if I can catch a ride that there won't be a need to rent a car for the duration of the Nationals.

I'm toying with the idea of going. Not sure yet, as I'll have to go to S. Carolina for my son's graduation just a few weeks later, and two cross-country trips in just a few weeks is a lot of traveling and time off of work.

Cathie, last time I went to Sturbridge, I was able to coordinate with a couple of people to pick them up at the airport on my way. Since I'll be driving it's no problem, depending on when you might plan to arrive and depart. Juanita didn't use her rental car except to/from the airport since I let her ride shotgun with me if we went anywhere.

Well Harley and I will be there for I turned in my summer vacation request at work on Friday!! Also informed my husband that this is my dog show weekend so he and the boys better make their own agenda for those days :th-up

and that they can't come to the show (which I will explain in a later post :sm

).
So this is my tentative thought - I will be showing Harley in Obedience (Saturday and Sunday Mornings), as for Agility I'm unsure. He has to be shown in the Preferred classes and we are trialing in April so I will make my decision then.
As for logging it looks like the Super 8 for me, the last time the show was in Sturbridge dogs were not allowed in the rooms and Sorry Harley sleeps with me :neen

I am driving up so my car will be avalible if anyone needs a ride.

Should be there with a 12-18 or open dog(unless finshed 3 pts now) a 6-9 month boy and bred by unless I place one by then. And maybe a bitch in the mix. So between 2-4 dogs LOL... I deffinately dont see myself not going at all we will see.

My dreams of going to Sturbridge this Summer and seeing Stephen and Robbie again too have been sidelined by granddaughter's soccer and college check-in plans. The wallet just isn't big enough to do all the travelling I'd like to this Summer. Know you all will have a grand time and am looking forward to seeing lots of pics! :hp

Its good to know who all is going; I'm still working on going...because I do have camp that costs about $300 plus of course food & t-shirts or tourist items there when I go, then we go to beach July 25th normally ; so it is a REALLY tight squeeze but I'm trying to work it out. Of course I will not be bringing any dogs. I wish Rudy could come, but ; he's not doing Agility (yet....i've been thinking about it....but....haven't gotten around to it) or Showing/Rally/Obediance, etc etc etc. :tg

I'm excited however!!!

I am hoping to attend if it's at all possible. The last time I was torn between watching the dogs outside and Oliver's breeder showing dogs indoors. It is a LOT of fun ... Juanita is a hoot! I want to go as much to see her again (as well as other forum members) as to see all of the beautiful and talented cockers! Sturbridge is a lovely spot. If you have an extra day to spend in the area, Old Sturbridge Village is a wonderful way to spend it!
