Do you think is the perfect amount of Cockers/dogs? My sibling and I were having a discussion, and the sibling mentioned that since Cocker Spaniels are so small sib feels like we should have more. They mentioned adopting a sweet little boy we saw on a rescue, and since we are both so desperate for a girl, get a girl later on. (Okay, so we are a little crazy. :gig ) What is your golden number? Two? Three? Four? More than four? Just curious. :happy

Personally, I think 4 is the perfect number. When I was fostering, I loved having 4 cockers in the house. Three was often a little dicey, but 4, yep, perfect!
(Now, If I just had the space and funds to do that again!)

Well....I thought two was perfect but then we had the chance to get Cody. Then I thought three was great until I saw Maxine. When we lost Maxine and I only had three it wasn't perfect anymore. So....Maxine sent Jennie which was ideal. Of course....then Maddie got dumped by his owners so five seems okay.... :lol3

I've got 4 (two saluki types and two cockers), though think that because I am on my own, 2 would be ideal in my situation as handling 4 all on my own is difficult when I go out (not a problem at home or in our regular park, but I can't go out for the day or on holiday somewhere without help really). If I have a partner again some time in the future, then 4 is great as there are 2 pairs of arms then. :bg

We have two (and the occasional three). I have one Labrador and one Cocker Spaniel, but my cousins also have another Labrador who comes around quite often. I would have to say two or three would be my limit and thats only based off the fact our dogs are pretty laid back and we have a house and yard big enough for them. For example; when the whole family is together at my grandma's house, there's a good six or seven dogs of all sizes and its chaotic! Also, my best friend has three cockers and a GSD. She has a fairly small backyard and I don't know how she does it!!

3 is perfect because that is ALL I am allowed where I live. :cry :cry

I have always liked at least 2 dogs...but it isn't for everyone. I have friends and relatives that would not consider more than one

I have two, a cocker pup and a poodle pup. With 3 kids 2 dogs is enough!

One for each member of the family works well for us. I'm about to have a second for me :gig

We've certainly had plenty more, but when we vacation with them, having one person responsible for one dog is perfect.

I don't know how many is enough, but I know how many is too many. When you can no longer care for them properly, its too many. That number is different for each of us and each family.

I've always only had one dog at a time... but if I had a fenced yard I could see myself with multiples.... perhaps that's why DH won't let me fence the yard! :gig

Julie... Yue is ADORABLE! :love

Thank you for all the replies! We dog sat a third dog a few years back, for about a month. She was a big dog, and we had Jenny at the time, who wasn't fond of the other female, that we were watching. So that created an interesting dynamic. I don't recall it being anymore difficult than two.
Julie, Yue is so stunning! I like your rule of one each. :gig Sadly, I don't think we can count those at college. :raz
Erika, thank you for the nice reminder. We could provide for three, or four, really the question is, do we want to...

I want to pack in as many and even more as I can, BUT..... there aren't any beds large enough (I already have a cal king), and DH gets a wee bit of a vote and he sorta thinks three is good, but he also knows we will add our little girl someday.
Knowing the probable life span of myself and puppers, I figure I've only got X amount of years to pack in all the furbabies I possibly can while giving quality care for us all.
I've got a big house, a big fenced yard that can be expanded, and an even bigger heart for my furbabies, I guess my perfect number is.......hmmmmm, I don't have a clue!

:paw :hp :paw

We have had anywhere from one to seven. Currently, we have six Cockers and a foster Cocker. Yes, we are able to take good care of all of them. They are walked once or twice daily, regularly groomed and vetted. I have lots of references if anyone wants to see them. :lol2

I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. It works for us. Our Cockers all get along really well and they have a strict routine.

As someone else said, we aren't getting any younger, so we need to pack in lots of Cocker love while we can! :hp

Becky-you are only limited to the number of B names that exist! I always love your B names.

We have always had only 1 dog growing up. My parents now have 2 little ones though (we always did labs and huskies)

My hubby and I have done labs as well, only one at a time. We currently have just Kasey, but have talked about adding in another cocker or smaller in time. We also have 4 cats...so another dog right now seems like a lot to me. Luckily Kasey loves one of our cats, who in return loves him! =) Thats works for now.
