Lee had a wonderful idea in a different thread, that we should make an "Introduction" Thread. I love that idea! While many people have already introduced their dogs, I think we need a place where everyone should introduce themselves AND their pets.

So if you are new, old, hardly posting, posting all the time, or haven't posted yet, introduce yourself!!

My name is Emily, otherwise known as Em. I am still in school. Right now, I volunteer with Heart to Heart Cocker Rescue and also the local SPCA. I'm a sunday school teacher at my local church, and I'm preparing to go to college soon. I'm Italian. Baking, running, and crafts are my main hobbies.

I have a three year old Black & Tan Cocker Spaniel named Rudy and a ten year old Labrador named Henry. We got them both as puppies. Henry was about 4 months old from a local Labrador rescue and Rudy is from a local breeder, we got him at 8 weeks. Both are very smart and sweet! Besides the dogs, we also have three rescue cats and I'm an aunt to a fabulous 2 year old yellow Labrador named Diesel. We live in NC. I've been a member since March of 2009.

I've loved both Cockers and Labs since I was a young girl. Many would agree that they are the BEST matches. Love my boys!!

My name is Becky and I live in SW Ohio. I am addicted to Cockers! We currently have five (or six):

Blondie - a small eight year old Buff girl from a puppy mill, adopted from Columbus Cocker Rescue at age three

Blackie - a six year old Black girl abandoned by her owners, adopted from Rescue at age eight months

Betsy - a small five year old Black girl found as a stray, adopted from Montgomery County HS at age two

Brandon - a three year old Chocolate and White Parti boy, surrendered by his owners after a flood wiped out their home, adopted from Columbus Cocker Rescue at age one

Beezus - a four year old Red girl (with some Dachshund in her), surrendered by owners, adopted from Columbus Cocker Rescue at age two

Buffie - a twelve year old Buff girl, deaf, luxating patellas, heart and kidney issues, found as a stray. Permanent foster for Columbus Cocker Rescue. She was pulled from Franklin County HS in January. She was scheduled to be PTS due to her age.

I'm Randi and my husbands name is James. We have a 3 month old pup named Bean Sprout aka Beanie. We live in NYC and I am a professional photographer. I can't stop taking pics of our little Bean and I can't wait to share them with you.

I am Debbie and we live in Longview Washington.
I have three girls ~ Mandi a buff cocker, Lexi who is also buff cocker, and Sasha my little daredevil who is chocolate sable cocker. I had to get three little girls to replace Brandy my previous cocker and to fill a very big void from loosing her in November 2008. I did not realize until I lost her just how attached to her I was.

I love the forum and have learned so much and will miss some of the information lost; I have referred to previous posts on many occasions.

I am also a distributor for Natura Pet Foods, so if you are in my area and you feed your babies EVO, Innova, California Natural or Healthwise send me a PM; I am all about giving other dog owners a great deal.

Hi everyone i'm Kathy I have a 10.9 month old red American Cocker Spaniel named Austin, we live in Lindsay (Kawartha Lakes) Ontario Canada, We brought Austin home to live with us January 10 2010, and we love him to bits....my husband John pretends he doesnt but we all know the truth, I am a stay at home mom to three girls Chardon 12, Camaron 10 & Emily 6 and my husband John is a Real Estate Agent we've been married for 13 years. Austin is my first cocker spaniel but I have loved the breed since I was a very young girl. I have been waiting for him for 25years since I was 9 years old, and my dad promised me he would buy me a new puppy when we moved into our new house (it never happened ) Aussie is a very happy puppy he loves everyone, cries when the mailman doesn't bring us mail, and thinks everybody walking by our house should be coming in for a visit and cries when they don't (which isn't often our house is where all the kids on the block like to hang out).

HI I'm Bettyanne and I live in southern Ontario in Hamilton, Canada. I have a nearly 5 month old buff male named Darcy who is at present trying to get into as much trouble as possible. I grew up with a cocker and have always loved the breed. My last cocker was a little chocolate girl and before that a buff male named Romeo, who died of IMHA. Darcy is going to puppy school and is learning lots of new things (so am I!) but he still has time to get into lots of mischief. Keeping an eye on him is a fulltime job even in a small apartment.
To-day we had a mile long hike in some woods near here, a conservation area. It was very nice and Darcy only got burrs in his fur twice so far. We will be going back again soon to walk some more of the many trails.

Hello, I'm Becca. I have a husband of nearly 7 years, Sean. We have a 11 month only chocolate and tan named Winston. He's a wild man at home, but very polite with perfect manners in public. He loves to cuddle with his mama, chase balls, and destroy fluffy toys. We live in Madison, Wisconsin. Prior to Winston, we had a red and white parti named Halle. She was the sweetest dog. I miss her every day. She passed away last year at the age of 16.

We have been on the zim forum since I got Winston in 2005.

Norris From NORJAC COCKERS, I have been here for a long time. We have a lot of short hairy people around our house. And a lot of feathered friends here also. We have Champion Cockers with more close to finishing their titles. Here is some of our Champions at home.

I'm Karmann. I live west of Fort Worth, Texas. I am married and have three children and three cockers of my own, plus the fosters. I volunteer and foster for Dallas-Fort Worth Cocker Spaniel Rescue and help out with other rescue groups when I am able. My children are grown-my daughter is a nurse, my oldest son is a PFC in the U.S. Army and my youngest son is a senior in high school who leaves for Army Basic Training in June 2011. I've been a forum member since 2007, I believe.

My dogs are: Beauregard-he was adopted from the local shelter at 5 weeks of age. He was supposed to be a cocker, 28lbs max! Well, 45lbs and 11 years later, he's cocker mixed with something big, but we love him to death and he is the world's best dog. He is buff colored with a lot of gray these days. People look at him and say "I've never seen a cocker that big".

Winston is a black & white parti who is 5.5 years old. I adopted him from Dallas-Fort Worth Cocker Rescue a week after his 1st birthday. He was beaten with a cane by an elderly lady and never properly socialized. He's grumpy and mentally off, but he loves me and I love him, and I am definitely his person. He was a rescue "boomerang" who was returned after his first adoption because of his "mentalness", if you will. He and I have a lot of fun, but he hates children, old people and anyone with anything that resembles a cane in their hand. He's not exactly "merry and loyal", but I love his grumpy self and he is the "dog-bell" and the "alarm early warning system". No one can get near our house when he's on duty.

Lily Mae is maybe 5 years old, don't really know. I adopted her from a shelter 3 years ago, sight unseen, other than her picture on petfinder.com. She is my chocolate and white parti diva!! She is the dog boss, she tells the boy dogs when they are being too loud or playing too rough. She is an expert table surfer and is always on the lookout for some butter she can nab! She's always got to take a toy outside, but will NOT go outside if it is wet, not this princess. She is the epitome of a cocker who is "merry and loyal" and her nubbie never ever stops, unless she's busted for table surfing! She has a permanent smile on her face and thinks everyone loves her as much as we do!

Presently, I have a foster named Lucy. She is buff and 11 years old. She was an owner surrender for biting and this is the second time she's been in rescue for biting. Yep, she's a biter-no growl, no back off, if she doesn't like it, she' gonna bite ya, first thing! She's in excellent health and has perfect house manners. I'm not sure what the future holds for this sweet old girl......she doesn't like being around other dogs too much.

My name is Teresa and Murphy belongs to me. We live in a small town in Michigan. She was 14 in June and she was diagnosed with kidney disease in January of 2009. She is doing as well as a 14 year old dog can do. I don't have any pictures of me, but here is my Murphy girl on her birthday.

I am Donna from Wisconsin, married with one daughter and three Cockers and one turtle (we had two but sadly one died this week). Our first Cocker was a black girl who was our first kid so to speak, we got her when she was 8 weeks old. When she was 15 she started having lots of old age problems and lots of vet visits. When she was 16.7, we decided it was time to let her go which is an extremely hard thing to do but was something we discovered saved her from lots of pain that would have come had we not done it. At first I didn't want another dog, thought we would wait a year, well the next day I simply could not stand it without a dog in the house and a week later we had a new little Cocker puppy. I then decided I never wanted just one again, figured two would be so much better. Now somehow we have three!

This is Maya, we purchased her at 7 weeks of age, she is my velcro dog, always needs to know where I am and able to see me. When we got her we discovered after the fact that the breeder was not reputable and Maya had Parvo, she was a fighter though and with her spunk and the help of our great vet she pulled through. She is 4 years old now....


Almost a year after we got Maya my daughters Brownie troop went on a field trip to a shelter in a town near us. My daughter saw this very matted, scabby (from ticks) Cocker and burst into tears, of course I was in tears too. A week later we brought her home and named her Ginger. Ginger is very much a couch potato but LOVES going for walks with the rest of the gang, she is approx 7yrs old now...


Almost two years later my daughter and I had been volunteering at the shelter we got Ginger from and found an adorable little white Cocker pup that I fell in love with immediately. Had to convince the husband that we needed her but two weeks later we came home with Angel who is now 1 year old.....


and this is a pic of me. Don't think I have ever shared a pic of me before. This is my daughter and I on Mothers Day. I am not very fond of having my pic taken. I am 40 something and my daughter is now 11, was 10 in the pic.

I feel weird introducing myself!

My name is Kelly, and I was an early member of the Zim forum . . . in the first 100 members! I am the servant to three buff Cockers. Farley is almost 11 years old - he was my first show dog and my first obedience dog. His official name is Ch Silverwood's Northern Light Am Can CD, RN, CGC. He earned his Canadian championship, his American and Canadian Companion Dog (obedience) titles and his Rally Novice title, as well as his Canine Good Citizen certificate. Grace is Silverwood's Elegantly KLAD CD, PCD, RN, CGN, Therapy Dog. She was going to be bred, but circumstances changed, and she has recently been spayed. We compete in Rally, Obedience and we do Therapy Work. Jack Jack is Calla's All Bets On KLAD - he is currently my show dog, but he is also being trained in Rally and Obedience. He's beautiful and sweet.

I write for the Cocker Classic magazine, as well as occasionally moonlighting for the FIDO Friendly blog. I am the Secretary of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of Canada, the Vice President of the local SPCA and the fundraising coordinator for Cockers in Need.

I am EXTREMELY interested in canine behavior, and have done tons of reading and studying up on it. I am also very interested in photography and pedigrees.

Hi everyone

I'm Lisa P. from MI and I do not own a cocker, but I do help take care of Brodie, a chocolate cocker that came to be with "us" as a 10 month old puppy about 4 years age.

I joined so I could get information and advice as none of us had ever had a cocker before and I thought someone should know something about this breed.

He is doing ok and I continue to gain helpful information.

Hello from Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario Canada. I'm Dawn and my Husband is Frank. I'm a stay at home wife and Frank is a Police Officer. We love to camp and we take our pack with us when and where ever we go. Frank got Tucker our first cocker for me, for Christmas back in 1999. Sadly we lost Tucker to health problems while camping for 2 months in Florida on Jan 6, 2010. Our big boy is missed dearly and we even named a star in Orian's belt..center star of the three our Tucker Star.

Our fur family now consists of 2 Cockers and 1 sheltie. Our boy's (Cockers) are Mason who is a Black Cocker born in Feb of 09 and rescued from a bad backyard breeder in June of 09.
Our other boy is JESSIE, a black sable Cocker who we rescued from a puppy mill situation 3 weeks after we said goodbye to our first Cocker Tucker back in Jan of 2010. No money exchanged hands when we got Jessie except for the large vet bill's we incurred to get him to good health.
The third pup in our pack is Sadie whom we rescued from a women who couldn't take care of her. Sadie was unable to walk up or down stairs when we got her, she was also afraid of people and would hide behind the couch in the corner in fear. Sadie is an avid Frisbee chaser and ball chaser. Unlike Mason and Jessie who would rather chase each other than balls or a Frisbee.

Hi, I'm Jennifer from IL, just on the east side of the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO. I have been a member since 2007 when I brought home my chocolate girl, Sasha. Sasha is our only child and because of that she is extra spoiled! Without further ado, here we are...

I actually introduced myself again on the thread, before I saw Em's post. My name is Aisha and I've been a member for almost 5 years in Nov. I have an almost 5 year old cocker spaniel Hershey who started my love for the breed and I have another cocker Perri who is a SAble parti (pic on my avatar) who we will be getting in 3 weeks! I also help with rescue and absolutely Love this breed!! I recently got married Feb 13th of this year to my best friend, Jamil. It was certainly a whirl-wind romance because we talked on the phone for 3 months before going out, dated for 3 months, got engaged the 4th month and were married 5 months later! I wouldn't have done Anything differently.
I have recently started school full time for a degree in Early Childhood Education and am a Preschool Teacher at a local church. My husband is an Engineer and is also in school full time for Mechanical Engineering.
