:Y5 Welcome one and all to the 2010 Pacific Northwest Yelm Pupapalooza! :Y5

Tomorrow and Sunday we will gather in beautiful Yelm, Washington, to enjoy spending time with our fur and skin friends. Below is a general itinerary of the weekend ~ come for all, come for some, but please come! ~ below that is a compilation of those that are planning on attending ~ and below THAT is the potluck sign-up list of what people are committing to bringing. I'll be updating the information on a daily (or as needed) basis as the list changes by gathering info from posts or PM's. Sounds like we are going to have a wonderful time together... the area is beautiful, and guaranteed to offer something that everyone will enjoy.

We will also be hosting a fund-raising effort to benefit the American Cocker Spaniel Rescue, located nearby. Info posted!!

Lodging:

If you plan to arrive on Saturday, the Prairie Hotel in Yelm is dog friendly! Here is the link to their web site:
http://www.prairiehotel.com/

Saturday events:

Grooming Demo
9:00 am, held at Julie Hydro’s shop
K-9 Klips (http://www.k-9klipsgrooming.com/home )
108 3rd Street SE
Yelm, WA 98597
360-400-4222

Anyone is welcome to come watch the other people’s dogs being groomed. As everyone will likely be getting different cuts, we all can learn from them for possible future use. Julie is expecting to close the shop to regular customers that day as there is quite a line up of ‘Looza cockers already on her schedule. There is no charge to come and watch/participate in this informal workshop, but because she will be closing the shop to regular clients there will be standard grooming charges for those making appointments for their dogs to receive a grooming. There is a safe, enclosed yard space behind her shop for the dogs not involved with the grooming sessions.

Saturday Evening Dinner

Any ‘Looza attendees that will be in town early are welcome to gather for a no-host dinner at 6:00 at the:

Puerta Vallarta
802 West Yelm Avenue
Yelm, WA 98597-9412
360-458-7710

Julie has graciously offered to let the fur-kids stay at her air conditioned shop while we are at dinner. She only has crate/pen accommodation for six, so if you have your own please bring it along.

Sunday events:

The Yelm Pupapalooza will be held in Clearwood which is a private gated community about 20 minutes from downtown Yelm. This is an area of beautiful lakes and parks attached to the community where Julie Hydro lives ~ but because it is a gated community, arrival times will need to be carefully arranged. There is no cell service in this area so late arrivals may have difficulty reaching someone for entrance unless arranged ahead of time.

Directions:

1. Coming from the Hotel go to the main road and make a
2. LEFT onto YELM AVE E/WA-507. 0.8 mi
3. Turn RIGHT onto BALD HILL RD SE. the AM/PM 9.8 mi
4. Stay on Bald Hill RD SE to the left at a 4 way stop
5. After the 9.8 miles you'll see a Clearwood Sign
6. Go past that 2.0 miles to the back gate

Here is a Google link to Clearwood Community ~ you can input your own location coming from anyplace else and then follow directions 5 & 6 above to reach back gate.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1& ... CBcQnwIwAQ

Very important: Someone will be at the gate to provide entrance “on the hour” at 10:00, 11:00, and 12:00, so please plan your arrival to coincide with those times ~ anything later than that will need to be arranged in advance so someone can come out to open the gate for you. (A contact phone number will be sent to everyone through a PM)

I do believe that last post was Freddie, posing as Indie and Bennett (you can tell from the MA dialect ....). They will, of course, be in Yelm with me - they wouldn't miss it!

And I'm thinking that you need to pack Freddie into one of those bags and bring her along ~ she shouldn't miss it, either!! :RZ5

I can bring some homemade cookies cookies. I am driving to Ashland to visit friends for two days before heading up to Julie's. I am also open to going in with someone to purchase food that is more perishable.

If everyone wants to bbq meat they could just let me know what they want and I can pick it up from the local butcher since I have the ability to keep it refrigerated.

Let's see, I would like to bring refrigerator pickles and a shrimp appetizer if that works.

I've never been to one of these. What goes on? Do they dogs play together? Is it at Julie's house or the park? Any info would be great.

thanks
Claire

It's not at my house, but in the community I live in. Look here viewtopic.php?f=92&t=49818&start=15 and scroll down to the Reichel Beach pictures. So far the community doesn't have anything planned for there that day so it should be ours. There are lots of alternatives if it's not available but my husband or I should be down there bright and early to claim it (it's first come first serve)

Yes the dogs will play together, the ones I'm bringing are reliable off leash but I hope to have a lot of expens to set up a nice fenced in area that the others can play in. Long lines would be another alternative. Overall it will just be a bunch of cocker lovers talking dogs enjoying a beautiful setting with good food.

I would like to contribute a potato salad and/ or one of the fruit trays from Costco, if that sounds good? Julie has generously offered to let me store some salad in the fridge at her shop. And I will contribute towards some meat when I see Julie the weekend before the Looza. I can bring crates for our night out, but will need to borrow/rent one for Sugar...for the dinner out. I will have them set up in the shade also for timeout crates for my girls as they can be a handful, when there are 3. :B9:

You can sign me up to bring a cooler full of beverages.

I know there will be Diet Coke and Water Bottles inside, as well as other selections. If anyone else is like me and dedicated to their soda (no diet pepsi for me only diet coke!) then let me know your favorite beverage and I'll be sure there is some in the cooler!!

Okay, I just bought a crate for Penny, so we are so ready!! We'll be bringing a dessert (brownies!). Penny & I both love hamburgers (note picture from last year!) I can also bring a big bag of chips and some homemade relish and pickles from my garden. See you all soon!

judi & Penny

p.s. What's the final word on Peggy and the photo op? Times? Cost? Charity?

I just spoke with Peggy this morning to confirm all the details of the photo opportunities. I'll be placing that info in a separate thread later today, along with other fundraising options to benefit American Cocker Spaniel Rescue in Spanaway... so stay tuned! :T2
