OK, so I groomed Cricket yesterday... not so good results due to dull blades, and lousy "thinning" shears.

About those shears... I probably paid $4.99 for them at PetSmart about 18 years ago. I know I used them quite a bit on Feather when she was young and still had her thick coat, never used them on the fosters, didn't use them when Feather got older and naturally thinned her own coat. But now I have little Cricket, who has a very thick coat. I was wanting to blend as Julie showed-- ARG!

TOO DULL == Terrible results!

Oh well, it's just hair and hair grows, even though hers has taken 3 months to get long enough to need cutting...

Recommendations for thinning shears, please.

I believe mine are the Double Duck Duchess (46)...not bad and they don't break the bank

I'm a big fan of the 44/20 The regular old taper fine.

I have only owned one thinning shear and it has groomed about 8 spaniels over the years, the 44/20 Taper Fine. I have them sharpened regularly by the company. The do a great job and worth spending the money, they will last you a lifetime!

44/20 for me also, per Julie's recommendation

I own several thinning shears...I think 6 to be exact and my favorite of them all is my Talyner.

To see them you have choose Grooming Site from the menu and then choose thinners.

I actually bought it a dogshow as they were there as a vendor. Very excellent company to do business with and this is a very high quality affordable thinning shears.
