How to make a screensaver slideshow out of the Zim Family Cocker wallpaper photos: (Windows XP only) Step 1 ______ Figure out what the resolution of your Windows desktop is. To do this, minimize all windows so you can see your desktop. RIGHT CLICK anywhere on your desktop, but not on an icon. Left click on PROPERTIES and then left click on the tab that says SETTINGS. In the lower left corner of the dialogue box, your screen resolution will be listed. It is probably something like 800x600, 1024x768, 640x480, etc. Remember this setting, or write it down. Left click on CANCEL. Step 2 ______ Create a new directory on your hard drive where the photos will be stored. To do this, go to your desktop and double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on the icon for your hard drive... usually drive C: Up in the upper-left of your window, left click on the FILE menu. Left click on NEW, and then left click on FOLDER. You should now see a folder called NEW FOLDER. The phrase "New Folder" should now be highlighted, and the cursor blinking to the right. On your keyboard, type in a different name for this folder... whatever you want, perhaps something like BACKGROUND PHOTOS. Press the ENTER button on your keyboard. Close the MY COMPUTER window. Step 3 ______ Go back to the web page which features Jim Zim's Windows background photos. It's at http://www.zimfamilycockers.com/wallpaper.html For each photo which you want to add to the slideshow, left click on the appropriate resolution setting under the photo. For example, if in step 1 you found out that your desktop is set to a resolution of 800x600, left click on "800x600" underneath the photo of Abby jumping. You should now see a large version of the photo. Right click on the photo. Left click on SAVE PICTURE AS. A "SAVE PICTURE" dialogue box opens up. Navigate to the new folder you created in step 2. Once you are within the new folder you created, left click on the SAVE button. Repeat step 3 for each photo you want to add to the slideshow. Step 4 ______ Close or minimize all windows so that you can see your desktop. RIGHT CLICK anywhere on your desktop, but not on an icon. Left click on PROPERTIES and then left click on the tab that says SCREEN SAVER. From the screen saver menu, set the screen saver to MY PICTURES SLIDESHOW. To the right of where it says MY PICTURES SLIDESHOW, left click on SETTINGS. Left click on BROWSE. Browse to the name of the folder you created in step 2 and highlight it by left clicking on it. Left click on the OK button. Set the "HOW OFTEN SHOULD PICTURES CHANGE" slider to MORE. Set the "HOW BIG SHOULD PICTURES BE" slider to LARGER. Left click on the OK button. Set the WAIT time to whatever amount of time you prefer. (In other words, how many minutes of keyboard/mouse inactivity do you want it to wait before displaying the slideshow?) If you would like to test the slideshow, left click on PREVIEW. When you are done previewing the slideshow, move your mouse. Left click on the OK button. That's it! If you've got this far, please send me an email to let me know if these instructions made sense to you, and how you like the slideshow.
